This Week (46) in Dating: be2, Europe, and the USA
Well, the most important economic thing this week was that be2 raised a lot of money: “(be2), a leading global matchmaking site with more than 12 million members in 34 countries, today announced it has received an investment of €15 million from the Index Ventures growth fund. be2 will use the capital to further international expansion and increase its user base in existing markets.“ It is quite important for two reasons: be2 has been founded in Germany, and it is mainly European – although they company runs successful dating applications in other countries (see an example) as well.
I think that US-Americans are not aware what it means to build up such applications in Europe – a lot of different languages, quite a lot of different mentalities – so you need a lot of employees and really a lot of knowledge about the specific country. That´s what American commentators should probably know before they start to write about Europe – so please: switch on your brains first, than try to think European, than write – in this order.
So back to Europe: To run a gay dating service is somewhat difficult depending on what else you may offer on your website – and Gays are not shy. That is why some of the German webmasters prefer to go to the Netherlands, where you can communicate openly in the web – which is somewhat restricted in Germany. Very complicated to explain. The interview with the webmaster is not an my site – and unfortunately it is in German. It may be quite interesting for you, that there is not that much difference in Gay dating and casual dating of hetero couples.
Well, talking about casual dating I mentioned lovepoint this week because they have a new safety certificate for their dating site which includes casual dating.
Do you wish to make money with love? No, no, not for hookers – just for people looking for love. Quite interesting what people offer in Germany. In case you know more about similar companies in the USA, please give me a hint.
What else? Nymphomaniacs and scientists – they still use the word “Nymphomaniacs“ although they should know better. More about it – well – yes, but this time it was a British tabloid.
Do you know you can have flirt tips by cell phone? Well it is not really new, but there is a new idea here in Germany: Have flirt tips all day by a flirt coach.
So – I will not use the service as I have learned my lesson about flirting already – and usually, I do not use my German cell phone number. What a pity.
