Israel: 14-year old girl divorced
A 14 year old girl has been divorced, according to Israeli and British Sources. She married a 17-year-old man in front of friends, where a wedding ceremony was held. So was the marriage “legal“ in terms of the Jewish Religion?
The Jerusalem Rabbinic Court ruled “yes“, because three of the main requirements of a marriage under Jewish law had been met: Speaking the words, exchange an item of value, and “consummate“ the relationship, what means sin clear terms having sex which each other.
At first, th e young lady said that she would refuse a divorce, but after being offered 10.000 shekel (app.2400 USD or 1700 GBP) by the grooms parents, she changed her mind.
